Bequests

The simplest way to make a Planned Gift is by naming Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation in your will. A bequest is a meaningful way to support the future of patient care in your community hospital.

There are several types of bequests:

 - A specific bequest indicates the amount of cash, securities, or other asset you wish to leave to the Foundation. Or it can indicate a specific percentage of the total of your estate.

- A residuary bequest leaves the remaining portion of your estate (or a percentage of the total) after all other bequests have been satisfied.

- A contingency bequest takes into account the possibility of a change in your beneficiary’s circumstances. For example, you might leave the Foundation a bequest if another heir predeceases you.

Unrestricted and Restricted Gifts

Gifts that do not restrict the Foundation’s use (unrestricted gifts) are especially appreciated by the Foundation and are of more value as they allow the Foundation to channel resources to the areas of greatest needs at Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

The Foundation is also grateful for gifts that are designated for a specific that advances its mission (restricted gifts), such as support for a specific fund, program or campaign.

If you are interested in making a restricted gift, it is important that you include specfic language to ensure that the Foundation may re-direct the use of your gift in the event that the specified purpose ceases to need funds in the future. For sample wording click here.

Hazel Dunn leaves a legacy to
Groves Hospital Foundation

Hazel Dunn was a part of the Fergus community for more than 58 years. She and her husband Cavan built a life here. They had a Home Hardware and Hazel managed Steadman’s store for more than 26 years.

Her niece, Mary Meredith, shared with the Foundation how much her Aunt Hazel appreciated Groves. She was a volunteer with Groves Hospital Volunteer Association in the Gift Shop and the Opportunity Shop and when it came time to plan her estate Hazel left a gift for Groves in her will.

Mary drove from London to personally present the cheque to the Foundation. Thank you to Hazel and her family for sharing this lovely gift with Groves.
