Dr. Greg J. Boland

Dr. Greg J. Boland is a retired Professor Emeritus from the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph. He has taught and conducted research in plant health and plant pathology across Canada and several international locations over the past forty years.

Greg joined the Board of Directors of the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation Board in 2016 because he wanted an opportunity to contribute back to the Fergus-Elora communities that he has lived in for more than 30 years.  He was particularly interested in working with the capital campaign for the new Groves Hospital because his family was involved with comparable campaigns in Nova Scotia where he grew up (e.g. Greg is a seventh-generation Nova Scotian and still maintains close contacts with friends and family there).   He is inspired by the commitment and dedication of our communities in support of our local hospital, and with the success of the fund-raising campaign that resulted in the official opening of the new Groves Memorial Community Hospital this year.  Certainly a milestone achievement for our communities!

Greg is also involved as a volunteer with other organizations, including environmental programs in our local area such as NeighbourWoods and Green Legacy.  He enjoys gardening, hiking, biking and international travel.
