Greg Boland

Greg J. Boland is a retired Professor from the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph. He has taught and conducted research in plant health and plant pathology across Canada and several international locations over the past forty years. Greg joined the Board of Directors of the Groves Memorial Community Hospital Foundation Board in 2016 because he wanted an opportunity to contribute back to the Fergus-Elora communities that he was living in.  He was particularly interested in working with the capital campaign for the new Groves Hospital because his family was involved with comparable campaigns in Nova Scotia where he grew up (e.g. Greg is a seventh-generation Nova Scotian and still maintains close contacts with friends and family there). He has enjoyed working with other volunteers and staff associated with the Foundation, and delighted with the success of the fund-raising campaign leading up to the official opening of the new Groves Memorial Community Hospital this year.

Greg is also involved as a volunteer with environmental programs in our area such as NeighbourWoods and Green Legacy, and has other interests such as gardening, music and international travel.
