Jayne & Rob MacKenzie's Story
Groves Hospital and the Foundation are very special to Rob and I and our family. They have always been there when we have needed it most. The staff and doctors are all so special and make Groves such a wonderful hospital. It has been 18 years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I wouldn’t be alive today without the wonderful care I received from everyone at Groves.
"My husband and I have been donating monthly to Groves for many years and are so happy we are able to help. All of the equipment at Groves is purchased by donor money and you cannot run a hospital without it."
It doesn’t seem like much every month, but it sure adds up when the yearly tax receipt comes in the mail. It was so special to us when the Foundation called and said that because we had been donating monthly for so many years, we were able to have our name up on the Donor Wall in the new Groves Hospital.
Five years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma; a rare blood cancer and again, I needed Groves and all their wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff to help figure out what was wrong with me. Four years ago, my husband was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and yet again, we needed our wonderful hospital and staff. Two years ago, my multiple Myeloma unfortunately came back, but I am so lucky that I am able to be treated at Groves for my monthly treatments. The doctors and nurses that run the oncology department are some of the most amazing people I know. They care so much for their patients.
The care that I receive on a monthly basis is so wonderful that when you are going through such a tough time in your life, it is so nice to be treated so well.
