Tree Dedication at Groves Hospital

Plant a Memory

Together with Grand River Agricultural Society (GRAS), we are proud to announce a new Memorial Forest along the path leading to the Cataract Trail, behind the hospital. GRAS generously led the planning, prepared the soil for planting, and sponsored the costs of landscaping & tree planting.

This Spring, the planting of the new forest took place and there are still a limited number of trees available with dedication plaques. Trees are available for naming by new donation(s) of $3,500; funding vital equipment purchases at GMCH. This unique naming opportunity is available for the lifespan of the tree/plaque.

Your tree will flourish and grow as a visible reminder of your generous support to all who visit the hospital for years to come.

  • Your tree can be named In Honour or In Memory of a loved one(s). This is a beautiful way to remember & celebrate a special someone who is no longer with you, enrich the environment, and support health care in your community.
  • Your tree can be named after a family, person, or company. This will provide a lasting legacy showcasing your support of Groves.
  • Your tree can be named in celebration of a milestone occasion or accomplishment in your life or the life of a family member; such as: a graduation, wedding, special anniversary, or birth. You can visit your tree to revisit this memory in the future.

Your tree will beautify the hospital grounds and provide a peaceful place for patients, families, visitors, staff, and physicians to enjoy shade and natural scenery. Your dedication plaque will remind others of your loved one(s) and your generous support of health care.

There are 7 different types of trees planted in the Memorial Forest, each in very limited quantities: White Spruce, Black Cedar, White Pine, Colorado Spruce, Sugar Maple, Burr Oak & American Basswood (both fully reserved).

Each of these tree species were carefully chosen by the Grand River Agricultural Society as they are heritage species and were native to our region, prior to pioneers clearing the land. Each tree is planted in a location best suited for its individual attributes and requirements. The Memorial Forest are planted in such a way as to provide a lovely canopy over time without any crowding of roots or branches.

Please note: there are a limited number of each type of tree in the Memorial Forest. As such, we cannot guarantee availability of every type of tree to each donor. If you desire a specific type of tree, please speak to Lori Arsenault directly to ensure its availability and reserve to avoid disappointment.

As the tree and landscaping costs have been generously sponsored by GRAS, your donation of $3,500* will fund vital equipment purchases at GMCH and cover the cost of your plaque. Your support will ensure our physicians & staff have the equipment and technology needed to continue to provide the best possible care to our patients, for years to come.

*Your donation may be made in instalments
